Seethammpeta Parish

Seethampeta Parish is one of the age old parishes of Srikakulam Diocese, situated between Palakonda and Kottur towns in Srikakulam Dt. of Andhra Pradesh. It has got 12 substations with small Catholic communities. The main work is building up the faith practice of the people by way of celebrating the Sacraments and other Sacramentals. At present, Fr. K. Augusine SJ is the Parish Priest. There are six catechists namely Paul, Vijaykumar, Jeremaiah, Abraham, Simon and Rajarao. The chapel at Goidi substation is known as Fathima Matha Shrine. It has got 114 years of history as a popular shrine. Unfortunately pastoral care was neglected for so many years. Due to strenuous efforts of Fr. K. Augustine, it is now rapidly picking up. Every Sunday there is Eucharistic celebration in this chapel at 10.30 am and around 30 people attend regularly. There are now regular masses in substations. Besides the pastoral work, house visiting, family counselling, conducting tuitions for students are a few other activities in the parish. A new residence is being built now in view of starting some tribal developmental and training programmes.
